Day 27 of 365 – Jeffrey
A portrait of my oldest boy, Jeffrey. Jeffrey is severely autistic and getting a good photo of him is often a chore. I decided to go ahead and try today. He did really well. This is the one my wife and I liked best. I am not 100% sure this is the final post processing for it but I thought I would go ahead and post it.

he has happy bright eyes !
wow… did u do something to his eyes??
the lighting is very cool and the eyes are just perfect
I love what you have done with this. He has such beautiful bright eyes! I love the colour. You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to…I was just wondering…does taking photos scare Jeffrey or he just doesn’t like to get his picture taken like me!
Thank you for the comments.
Ivydeliz: I played with the eyes in photoshop quite a bit. I dodged the whites and the iris and burned the ring outside of the iris then applied a significant unsharp mask — on a layer masked to his eyes. As well as taking the second catch light from the second flash out.
Sherry: No worries about the question. The camera doesn’t scare him he just doesn’t understand what we are doing and gets impatient very quickly. He is a sweet little boy; but, when he doesn’t ‘get it’ he doesn’t want any part of the experience
. Tonight was unusual he sat for me, relatively patiently, for 10 or 15 minutes. Usually I am lucky to get one snap before he is insisting he is ‘All done’
.
His eyes look so pretty in this photo!
You’ve caught a great expression and the light is superb! I’d love to have seen what it was like before you did the eyes.
I don’t have a version before just the eyes, and unfortunately my editing style in photoshop is rather destructive (I know I should not flatten so much)… In any case here is the version before any post processing. Clearly, as you can see, I have done more than just processing on the eyes. Looking at this one I think I may have gone a bit too heavy on the eyes processing. Let me know what you think.

I really love this, it’s a great shot. His eyes are just lovely, the catchlights in them make them look so bright and animated.
And the composition and clarity is superb.
quite drawn to the eyes… next time i’d like to see the ‘before’ on the eyes to note…
Thanks for posting the ‘before’, Jeff. I think somewhere between the two would have been just perfect.
Thanks for the feedback everyone; I really appreciate it!
This picture is so sweet. I love my big nephew. He is precious to us all!!
