Great lighting on this one
Very cool shot.
I like it. Very clever to reverse the shades on the candle holders. I was thinking it would look cool if it was less "soft". Although the candles do convey softness so this look is really suited to a photo like this. The colours (especially in the back behind the orange one) are really nice.
Thanks
Sue: I agree with your assessment of soft. I may try this again soon and use a smaller aperture to get a bit more definition in the candle at the back. I also think I have figured out what bugged me most. Really I knew it but the solution didn’t come to me until today. I have almost no contrast between the ‘shade’ on the front candle and the back candle. I think If I had reversed the setup and had the orange candle/blue shade up front and blue candle/white shade in the back it would have worked a lot better.
Thanks again, everyone, for the comments.
very colourful. My first thought a few days ago when you posted it was, not much can be done to improve it, it’s good as is, changing it too much would give it a different feel and that would be a different picture. Then I kinda reached the same conclusion you did, well, it wasn’t quite the same, just the darkness on the left, but I think your assessment is more accurate, it’s just the colour contrast…. it’s a damn good shot!
I think more definition on the orange candle would be good. Other than that I like the shot.
