Day 143 of 365 – Jason Voorhees

We visited my wife’s sister’s house today for a nephew’s birthday. Her husband has a life size figure of Jason Voorhees in his rec room complete with machete. Jason was the killer in the Friday the 13th movie series. Here is the shot I took of him. I added a bit of a flare in photoshop just because.

Day 142 of 365 – All Work and No Play Make’s Trevor a Dull Boy

I was kind of going for a funny/goofy twist to the box cover of the shining, being it was coming from a child. I think I got more scary than funny though… what do you think?

Lighting: Vivitar 285hv behind subject full power. Canon 580EXII camera right 1/64 power.

Day 141 of 365 – Another Bird At Work

I am posting another bird shot from work today. This one is a lot smaller than the one from yesterday and I used the Tamron 2x Teleconverter with the 70-200 f2.8 is to get the shot. Even with that I had to crop it down quite a bit to get this composition. In any case I thought it turned out ok, not as good as yesterday but still ok :)

Day 140 of 365 – I Shall Fly Away Soon

No Idea what this little guy is but I couldn’t resist unpacking the camera to photograph him. He stood there for me for quite a while before he decided to go back to the sky. If you know what type of bird this is if you do please comment or tag.

We Shall Remember

In the US Memorial Day is approaching. It is on this day that we remember those who paid the ultimate price to protect our freedoms. I wanted to post this image as my tribute and thanks to those men and women who stood up when called and for the families that they left behind to do it. In deed, I thank all who have fought for freedom regardless of the flag they fought under and regardless of the specific war or action in which they were involved.

For even if one believes the particular action or cause isn’t justified one must respect the men and women who bravely step into harms way so that others can live free.

[Just to be clear, I do not mean this as a polical statement regarding the US policy in the currently active wars. I only mean to thank those who have sacrificed in the name of freedom.]

Day 139 of 365 – Star Light Star Bright

I intended to shoot the moon tonight but alas I am not much of an astronomer and even though the phases of the moon calendar showed, to me, that the moon would be present at about 1/4 to 1/8 of full face I could not find it. Either something has gone terribly wrong or I simply don’t know what I am doing (haha I am pretty sure it’s the second of those).

In any case, I thought since I was out there I would try to shoot a photograph of the stars. I didn’t have time to do a proper star trail (plus I think I would need external power to get more than about 30 minutes) so I thought I would just do a 2 minute exposure and see what I got. Nothing to write home about but since it was the first time I tried to shoot stars I thought I would go ahead and post my effort to as my photo of the day. If any of you have done star photography I would love to hear your advice and tips on cool things to do.

Day 136 of 365 – Firewire

A quick macro shot for today. This is a firewire cable which I had laying around and thought I would try to use my extension tubes today. The shot, though processed for sharpness, background and a few other minor changes was not cropped at all.

Day 135 of 365 – Focusing on the Wrong Things

I admit that, though I know better, that this is one of my worst habits. I eat fast food way too often and I have the physique to prove it. I need to focus on eating right, rather than hiding behind the excuses :)
