Saw this from my parking garage at work today and thought the shadow was a little interesting. Happy Monday everyone.

Alternate Crop I added after posting… I can’t decide which I like better:

Day 179 of 365 – Trevor At His Birthday Party

Trevor At His Birthday Party, originally uploaded by jeff_golden.

Today we had Trevor’s birthday with his friends. He turned eight yesterday and we took him, his brother and three of his friends bowling and back home for ice cream cake. This isn’t my best photo of him but it shows him on his special day so it is my photo of the day. Bowling alleys are a pain to shoot in.

Day 178 of 365 – Never Grow Up

Never Grow Up, originally uploaded by jeff_golden.

Today is my youngest son, Trevor, birthday. We had a family party for him today. He received some ‘ammunition’ for this toy gun as a gift. Well it didn’t take long for my Brother, Brian, and I to begin playing. Our goal was to capture one of the flying nerf ‘bullets’ mid air. Took about 20 tries (man we are weak hah) but we finally got it. I guess we will never grow up. Trevor has a party with his friends tomorrow. I will try to post a photo of that for tomorrow’s photo of the day.

Day 177 of 365 – Dayna

Dayna, originally uploaded by jeff_golden.

Dayna agreed to model for me for a strobist type shot. I still have much to learn but this is taken in my garage against the garage door (I really need to invest in a roll of white seamless and some way to hang it for this kind of shot), using a vivitar 285 to blow out the background (with a bit of help from photoshop) and a 580exii camera left in an umbrella. Then touched up in photoshop. Not the best strobist style portrait ever but I think it turned out pretty well.

Wheat Field

I pass by this field every day, and today is the first day I really noticed it was even there. I thought that the texture was really interesting. You may see this show up another time at some point as this was taken from the car while I was stopped at a light too far away. I would have rather have got out and used my 17-55 on this and a larger depth of field. I still liked it enough to post it though.

I took this shot a while back, it isn’t any amazing photo or anything I just admired the bike. I don’t ride or anything but I appreciate motorcycles as works of art, and this definitely qualifies for that.

Someone, in the comments on flickr, asked how i processed it so I thought I would copy that here.

“I couldn’t tell you how exactly I processed it, it’s been a while since I started playing with this one, according to the PSD file it looks like a curves layer masked to take the background exposure down and couple of minor touch ups to get rid of a part of a parked car behind and brighten up the front part of the bike. Last night I added a high pass filter overlay layer to sharpen. And used nik define to clean up the noise I introduced in the parts I dodged.”

Day 175 of 365 – Stepping Out There

Stepping Out There, originally uploaded by jeff_golden.

Putting One foot in front of the other, even if you don’t quite know where you are going or if you will succeed, is the only way to get anywhere.
