Day 241 of 365 – Waiting…

On Black

Another everyday object that I thought I would make into a photograph. Not 100% sure it works but I thought I would post it anyway.

The concept is waiting for water to boil (or “A watched pot never boils”), or at least that is what I was hoping to get across in the shot.

I would welcome constructive criticism.

Nice shot! No criticism to offer. I don't think you needed to explain the title. I got it right from the get go. I like the way everything but the burner is in BW. Nice detail on the surface of the pot too. Good job!

  2. i like the lighting and the composition :)

  3. It looks great on black — emphasizes the focus just beneath that handle on the right. Cool shot!

Seen in my contacts’ photos. (?)

  4. a fab HOBby to have photography

Thank you for sharing with ClanFlickr

  5. yeah I think it works, although the black line midway up on the right is a slight distraction ?

Seen in my contacts’ photos. (?)

  6. Thanks all :)

I hadn’t even noticed it but now that you point it out I probably should have tried to compose this from a different angle to minimize it’s impact.

  7. I’m being hypercritical I think…

Seen on my Flickr home page. (?)

  8. I agree that the red glow from the electric hob looks great. In fact I think it’s the most important point of interest in the image, so maybe offset the pan so that we could see more of it.

Maybe try shot the objects from above so that the saucepan & the rings from the hob form some interesting circular shapes.

  9. At first I thought you needed to show the water in the shot, but now I think that would probably make the image too cluttered. I really like the red glow from the burner – it adds just the right touch of colour. Overall, I think the image says what you were trying to say

  10. Thank you both :) Appreciate the feedback and ideas.

  11. it just takes that much longer if if are watching! ;-)
