Day 365 of 365 – Wrapping It Up

Wrapping It Up
Camera Model: Canon EOS 7D
Exposure: 0.004 sec (1/250)
Aperture: f/11.0
Focal Length: 145 mm
ISO: 100

Well… WOW! Today marks the end of my 365 project for 2009.
Let’s get the bragging (er stats) out of the way first:

Days Photograph was taken: 365
Days Photograph was posted: 365
Days Missing: 0

When I started this project I thought, probably like most people, this can’t be that tough. I mean you click the shutter and upload the image. And true, it isn’t tough in that regard. What is tough is trying to be creative on a regular basis and produce something other than a snapshot daily. I can’t say I was successful in doing that 365 days but I think I was successful in doing it quite a bit more than I wasn’t.

I have to thank so many people for their support during this project. First is my family. Especially my son, who modeled patiently and sometimes a little less than patiently but still stood there :) . My wife who put up with my photography gear spread out on the kitchen table night after night and the photography gear that has taken up permanent residence in a corner of our living room.

Next is the Flickr Photo A Day 2009 group and the ClanFlickr group. Both of these groups are full of great people. Before this year I had really no contacts on Flickr and hadn’t really used flickr much. I have met nearly all of my contacts through these groups and have really grown to love the community on flickr. Your comments and visits to my stream have been so encouraging and have really motivated me to keep going with this project.

Don’t tune out just yet if you are following me on Flickr, My Blog, Twitter or Facebook :) . Next year, though less structured, I hope to produce just as much content and continue to learn and grow with my passion of photography. I hope that you will stick around with me. I am also looking forward to the things that my contacts have planned for next year. It promises to be very exciting and fun.

Happy New Year everyone may 2010 be full of everything good for you. And Keep on Clicking :)

Day 364 of 365 – A Matter of Perspective

Camera Model: Canon EOS 7D
Exposure: 0.004 sec (1/250)
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 135 mm
ISO: 100

This shot is more to illustrate the words that I am saying here than to stand alone, but thats ok :) .

** This is very geeky… you have been warned :) **
I needed to get some more space so I went out to a local store today and picked up this 1 terabyte drive. I had actually walked in hoping to grab a 2tb drive (or at least 1.5). They didn’t have the 1.5 tb drive in the brand I prefer and the 2 tb in this brand was a lot more expensive than the 1tb and more than I wanted to pay. So I settled for the 1 terabyte drive.

Walking out of the store it struck me at how funny that statement would have sounded to me just a few years ago let alone at the beginning of the decade that is coming to a close right now. Not long before the beginning of the decade I picked up a 1 Gigabyte hard drive used from an acquaintance where I worked. That drive cost me $500 and was a full-height SCSI drive. Today I paid less than a 5th of that for 1000 times more space and I considered it settling for smaller than I wanted LOL.

I guess it is all a matter of perspective :) Happy new year everyone.

Struggle

Camera Model: Canon EOS 40D
Exposure: 0.3 seconds
Aperture: f/4.0
Focal Length: 50 mm
ISO: 400

I made this SP one night (in September) when I was struggling with my PAD project and some other things. I was going for a gritty kind of feel and I think I achieved it. I haven’t posted it until now because I didn’t quite hit the focus on my eyes (or they moved or something) and I just wasn’t sure I wanted to post something this personal (if that makes any sense at all). But I was sorting through my PAD photos tonight (almost finished :D yay) and I saw it and decided I was going to go ahead and post it.

A simple shot today for the theme. Was going to do something more elaborate but ran out of time. In any case happy Macro Monday :)

Day 361 of 365 – Finally Over

Camera Model: Canon EOS 7D
Exposure: 0.013 sec (1/80)
Aperture: f/2.8
Focal Length: 43 mm
ISO: 1000

I enjoy Christmas time as much as the next guy but I am glad it is finally over. Here lies the aftermath of the ‘treat/snacks’ from today’s rescheduled "Christmas Day" get together. I am glad that these every other day meals and snack fests are over for a while. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy them but I can’t take any more :)

Day 360 of 365 – Snowed In

Camera Model: Palm Pre
Exposure: Unknown
Aperture: Unknown
Focal Length: Unknown
ISO: Unknown

Not much artistic about this shot but I had to share it. We got between 5 and 8 or so inches of snow on Christmas eve and Christmas day. It prevented us from making or normal trek to visit family on Christmas day but it was kind of nice spending it at home. I did venture out to McDonalds this afternoon to get food, as we were out at home. Saw this and I just had to share it. I can only guess that this belongs to an employee of the McDonalds who was unable to get it home on Christmas eve.

Day 359 of 365 – Merry Christmas

Camera Model: Canon EOS 7D
Exposure: 0.017 sec (1/60)
Aperture: f/4.0
Focal Length: 37 mm
ISO: 800

Just a quick snap from this morning after we finished oping packages. I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas.

I shot this with my new Canon 7D using the master mode for ETTL off camera flash with the 580exii in slave mode behind and to the right shooting into a reflective umbrella. Still learning but it worked out nicely for the photos this morning.

Christmas present to myself :) I have been trying to decide between the 5dii and the 7d for some time now and decided to go ahead and pull the trigger on this one.
