Today I think I will finally get a few minutes to sit down and start looking at this book. It has really wonderful reviews and everyone who talks about it seems to think it is the book to get on exposure. I am interested to see how I can apply what I learn. Happy Saturday Everyone.

Day 113 of 365 - Bubbles with an Attitude

Today I wanted to try to get a few of my son and nephew blowing bubbles in the back yard. I didn't get much at all though. I liked how this one turned out somewhat but I want to try this again when I can get a more willing subject :) neither were too interested in giving the man with the camera much of any of their attention today.

Photography is Not a Crime

This is a travesty. Plain and simple. This happened in the United States and the officer is still employed. Maybe reprimanded but still employed. We trust our law enforcement officers to obey the laws they are supposed to uphold. They have a tremendously difficult job. But that job does not give them the right to make up their own laws as they go along.

Saw these when I went to lunch today and snapped a couple of photos. I wish I would have though more before I snapped and tightened the aperture up a but for more DOF but overall I liked the colors enough to make this my photo of the day.

Day 107 of 365 - Facing My Dark Sides

Single 30 second exposure with four pops of the flash (handheld below my face 580exii 1/64 power) in a darkened room. I did bring it into photshop and move some of the faces around to get more symmetrical placement, process curves, levels, high pass filter (for sharpening) and black & white conversion.

This is the third 50mm lens I have owned this year. Lens #1 got broken in January -- my camera fell off the kitchen table. Lens #2 got knocked off the kitchen counter. I think this one is not going near the kitchen. Wish me, and my new nifty 50 luck :)

Decided to go a little 'off the map' today with the watercolor filter in photoshop. I don't hate it, but not sure I love it either.

Neglected

On the way to Garden City for Easter with my wife's family we passed these old buildings and silo. I snapped this picture through the passenger window, while my wife was driving. I have played with it in photomatix and photoshop extensively to get this look. I am no expert at this sort of thing but I kind of like where I ended up on it.

Day 97 of 365 - My Baby

I admit this is a bit lazy today, sorry. But this is in fact my baby :). It is the best lens I own and it is really sweet. Anytime I don't need a long range zoom or extremely low light performance I have this on the camera. I have a budget sigma 55-200 for the former and a 50mm 1.8 for the latter but this is by far my go to lens. I suspect it will stay that way until I can afford to get a 70-200f/2.8 is lens then this one might have to share the spotlight :)

Ready for the Oven

I had a tough time choosing between the Pineapple Upside Down Cake and this one for today's photo of the day. In the end I decided to go with the more colorful one. We ate way too much hehe :) In any case, my wife made an excellent lunch for everyone including these to die for dinner rolls. This was shot right before they went into the oven.

Today My family had a birthday get together for me. My birhtday is next week. My mother brought over this great pineapple upside down cake for use to eat. It tasted as good as it looks!

Not much of an image with this one just playing with Macro and kenko tubes. The bugs and critters weren't cooperating so this is what I came up with. I thought the crazy shallow DOF was kinda neat.

In any case this is a lazy lame photo of the day. But my wife and I are headed out to the dinner theatre and I was worried I wouldn't have time to do much else.

Day 92 of 365 - Sixteen Years

Today I celebrate the love of my life. I married Dayna when I was almost 21 and she was only 18. Little did we know what challenges life would serve us and what joys we would experience together. Two children and 16 years later and I wouldn't change a thing. I love her more today than I did that day 16 years ago when I told her, and the world, "I Do."
