Another everyday object that I thought I would make into a photograph. Not 100% sure it works but I thought I would post it anyway.
The concept is waiting for water to boil (or "A watched pot never boils"), or at least that is what I was hoping to get across in the shot.

I am shooting a wedding ceremony in October for some friends. It will be the first one I have done. I decided today that I would use my photo of the day to practice a ring shot (using my wife's ring).
The ceremony will be a fairly informal one and is actually a re commitment ceremony as the couple is actually already married. This ceremony is so they can exchange their vows in front of family and friends. If you have any advice on this shot or any advice for this type of ceremony in general I would love to hear it, either in the comments or via flickr mail.

I have mixed feelings about Flickr’s explore. I think in some cases it really does bring the cream to the top but in others it misses the mark quite grossly. In my case there are a handful of shot that have not made it that I think probably deserved to be there and a lot of these that did make it really did not. There are certainly a few here that I would willingly swap out with other, what I think are better, photos in my stream. But in any case I figured I would go ahead and post a collage of the 25 shots I have had hit the explore pages since I started my photo a day project in January of 2009

My nephew, Josh, was visiting this evening while his mom was in class. I took the opportunity to shoot him for my photo of the day. Though after taking this I was informed 'I don't Like to have my picture taken uncle Jeff.' I asked him why and he said 'I just don't' so this is the one I am posting. I think his expression matches his words pretty closely.

I am working on a new template to replace this one and to be able to display larger images... But I wanted to get some feedback from the few folks who follow this blog if it was going to be too big to comfortably see on your screens or if you thought it was a good idea.

It has the same posts as this one and a couple of them have been re sized to the larger format so you can get an idea of what it will look like. I haven't worked on the header or the other widget stuff just want to get feedback on the format. On my monitor it works but I am using a 24" 1920x1200 monitor so....

My wife and I went out to a steakhouse, sans children, for a nice meal. While there, I noticed these interesting chandeliers so I snapped a shot. I converted this in Nik Silver Efex Pro plugin for aperture with a bit of modification to the antique plate ii setting. I rather like how it turned out.

Today's shot is not an original idea. I have seen it several times this year. I was going to go for a shallow dof and make it like one of the recent shots I saw from a contact of mine, Concrete Cowboy. But, I liked the colors here so I decided to go with a bigger depth of field and get more of the straws in focus.

Today wasn't the best day ever. Not a lot of time for a photo. But I looked up in the dining room and saw the chandelier and thought I might be able to make something interesting out of it.

I'll be the first to admit this is a lazy shot. Didn't have any creative ideas for today so I thought I would just shoot a product shot and this was about all I could think of. That said I kind of like how it turned out.

Decided to play around a bit for today's shot. Used a Burnt Sienna filter from Nik Color Efex Pro to get the red sky effect, which I liked. Then I used ♥ ~ Kat ~ ♥'s cool texture in an overlay layer to give the texture (See more of her textures here. I really like how the whole thing turned out.

We decided to hop in the car this afternoon for the express purpose of finding something different and interesting to photograph. I remembered this train yard near where I live. So we decided to visit. We weren't in time to ride but I did manage to get some shots of the trains on the track. I will try to post a couple more of in the next day or so.
