My family visited the Deanna Rose Farmstead today. It is a children’s petting zoo near where we live. I made quite a few images that might find their way on to flickr over the next few days but I found these flowers and thought I would make them my picture of the day for the day. I have no idea what they are but I thought they were cheerful.
Not feeling super creative today but I shot this of my lovely wife and thought I would go ahead and post it for my photo of the day. Hope everyone has a great week.
Today is my youngest son, Trevor, birthday. We had a family party for him today. He received some ‘ammunition’ for this toy gun as a gift. Well it didn’t take long for my Brother, Brian, and I to begin playing. Our goal was to capture one of the flying nerf ‘bullets’ mid air. Took about 20 tries (man we are weak hah) but we finally got it. I guess we will never grow up. Trevor has a party with his friends tomorrow. I will try to post a photo of that for tomorrow’s photo of the day.
Dayna agreed to model for me for a strobist type shot. I still have much to learn but this is taken in my garage against the garage door (I really need to invest in a roll of white seamless and some way to hang it for this kind of shot), using a vivitar 285 to blow out the background (with a bit of help from photoshop) and a 580exii camera left in an umbrella. Then touched up in photoshop. Not the best strobist style portrait ever but I think it turned out pretty well.
I took this shot a while back, it isn’t any amazing photo or anything I just admired the bike. I don’t ride or anything but I appreciate motorcycles as works of art, and this definitely qualifies for that.
Someone, in the comments on flickr, asked how i processed it so I thought I would copy that here.
“I couldn’t tell you how exactly I processed it, it’s been a while since I started playing with this one, according to the PSD file it looks like a curves layer masked to take the background exposure down and couple of minor touch ups to get rid of a part of a parked car behind and brighten up the front part of the bike. Last night I added a high pass filter overlay layer to sharpen. And used nik define to clean up the noise I introduced in the parts I dodged.”
Hopefully this is seamless, unfortunately I lost some comments (sorry Shawna) but all of the posts should be here. I decided to move my blog to blogspot instead of my own hosted wordpress blog. WordPress is great but I didn’t really want to deal with doing upgrades and monitoring of the plugin versions so I figured I would let google do it for me. Additionally hosting it here allows comments from people who are registered with blogspot, wordpress.com, aol instant messenger, open id, etc… so that is a plus.
I attempted to redirect the wordpress feed link to blogspot as well but I am not entirely sure if it worked. In any case if you have a problem with the feed, I apologize, please resubscribe. I will be working on the template some more before I am finished but this should be the final home.
